HOW MANY LESSONS SHOULD YOU DO?

Frequency is a HUGE question in parents. How long will it take to get my kid swimming? The answer isssss........I have no idea!! Well I can give you an estimate at least but truly it varies from child to child. In this day and age, every child seems to have an inexplicable amount of pent up emotional trauma at the age of 2.5 or 3. This means that so many kids nowadays have these massive mental barriers they need to hop over before they even begin the process of learning swim technique. So I usually tell parents to wait a little longer than expected for swim lessons. You could argue that children have always been testy like that but I'm choosing to act like a bitter old man and say they haven't.

If your child has a massive amount of fear concerning the water I would suggest waiting. No matter how good of a swim coach you are, you can't out-teach fear. Couple that with the time it takes to get used to a swim coach and it spells a recipe for disaster. Maybe not disaster but rather a waste of money. I've seen kids go from screaming messes to marines in the span of a year between coaches. Once they get to a point where they can comfortably handle instruction, 2 lessons a week tends to do the trick. If you want to see some visual progress, 4 lessons will suffice. Then you can go from there to potentially doing more lessons.
